Finally tested not-positive on the covid test this morning, I was faintly positive on tuesday. I feel back to normal with some post-nasal drip that could be left over or it could be seasonal, can't really tell. Chest now feels fine and I've done some gentle heart rate increasing this week.

I am going to shear tomorrow, however I rescheduled my solo shearing of terribly behaved sheep to next week and J called and asked if I wanted to do some sheep with him tomorrow. I will, because it's better to do a few and he can pick up the rest if I can't do many, than to deal with some really difficult sheep by myself. I'll take it easy, promise.

I had to grab more covid tests this morning and just bought more food. I'm real annoyed that I haven't been able to make food I normally would, like granola and yogurt and cookies and have been forced to buy them since I haven't been willing to linger in the kitchen for long to make those more complicated things. Oatmeal and pasta, fine. But everything else takes more time. So I'm planning a baking day on sunday. Potential plans depending on how wild I want to get: lemon bars, boston cream pie, extra batch of pastry cream or ice cream, bread, granola, yogurt.

The weather has been absolutely glorious here, sunny, between 65 and 70F, sometimes with a little breeze, 50F at night. Wonderful weather. I've been sitting out on the porch reading a lot, doing some light yard work too. I need to hose down some work traps later today.  My plant babies that I started near the beginning of April are finally all sprouting. I've got a mix of flowers, vegetables and dye plants. The chickpeas are up and I think some of the flax is finally up, although I might need to replant it. Now that there's a fence around the garden, the deer should leave it alone even if the fence isn't an 8 foot fence. I didn't plant any peas, which I'll hopefully do this weekend and hope that the weather doesn't get too hot too fast. I want to pick up a load of compost from a local farm and spread it on the garden before all the plants that need transplanting go out.

The house projects are piling up, so a hardware store run is looming. Gutters need cleaning out, screens need to be replaced, all sorts of things to be done.

I am feeling much much better, not 100% but able to do things. I got a solid 9 hours of sleep last night and I feel much more energetic. I still tested positive this morning, so still isolating. Only lingering symptom is a cough which is not constant and isn't bad. I've stopped taking tylenol since I now feel mostly fine. The sore throat cleared up yesterday and there's the occasional tiny ouch since it's clearly still healing, but way way better than it was.

I'm supposed to teach in person tomorrow night, I'm going to see if I can get out of it even if the covid guidance says that I could probably do it (the covid guidance is stupid but my boss is using it). I don't think I'll be clear on tests by then.

So far I have stripped my bed and put laundry in. All the things that could be washed, are washed and the stuff that can't be went into the dryer for 15 minutes. I need to bag and dispose of the tissue bag. Put all my clean laundry away.

I desperately need groceries, primarily breakfast food, so I placed a pickup order at the grocery store which I'll run and get shortly. That's the best I can come up with for getting more food.

I need to do sidejob work that has been lingering too long which will be a big focus for today. I'm going to work on it in the evenings this week so I can hopefully get it all wrapped up since there's been so few new requests.

The weather looks beautiful so I plan to spend some time outside, possibly working on my tablet weaving project since I've finished all my current spinning projects and haven't started a new one yet. (technically there's spindle spins but shhh)

things that must wait until I no longer test positive: baking, cone winding yarn, making mac and cheese

I think I am still running a fever, but I've eaten so many menthols that the thermometer no longer works or maybe the thermometer is broken. my cheeks still feel warm. I feel less head cold like, my eyeballs are no longer so hot and ouchie, but the lack of sleep is starting to be a problem. I was up for at least two hours in the middle of the night and I think it was my sore throat. I actually got up and found the vanilla ice cream in the freezer and ate some in the middle of the night. It's better now with application of apple juice but I wonder if it'll keep getting better.

my nose is running a lot less and while I'm starting to develop a little bit of a cough, my strategy of keeping my head tipped forward more or sitting leaning on my side to keep the post-nasal drip from being a huge problem has helped a lot to keep the cough from being worse. It's still mostly a dry cough which is great.

I've committed to napping today to make up for the lack of sleep. Already took one 30 min nap before lunch time. Trying to eat as much rice as I can to help my stomach fix itself which is either the soup I ate or the menthols things.

Part of the issue is that I'm stretching the tylenol doses out more in the hopes that I'm feeling better and being a little worried about the quantity I'm taking. I'm at 12 hours apart right now, but I've been taking a dose in the middle of the night to be able to fall back asleep.

minor gripe, my housemate has the run of the whole house, where I'm stuck in my room. The soundproofing between our rooms up and down is not good. Said housemate played some medium level music and was singing along yesterday, which I wouldn't normally mind, but I can't use headphones right now and she could do it literally anywhere in the house, but was doing it directly above me. *grumps*

Anyway, back to watching videos and napping. I might go outside later when it warms up a bit more.

Improving

Last night was probably the worst of it, I had trouble staying asleep and woke up all sweaty and gross. But I'm definitely feeling better this morning when I got up and my temp check put me below 99F which is great. I'm going to rapid test later today, but probably still do nothing this weekend. ETA: still testing positive, all weekend plans now lay around and do nothing

Given all the symptoms and timing, I suspect I had covid in sept 2022 which followed the exact pattern of one day feeling meh, two days laying in bed, and then improving. I did test negative then but it is so similar.

Worst part is that my throat is really sore right now and it hurts to swallow. I think it's aggravated by having to breathe through my mouth while sleeping.

doctor was like, why didn't you do a telehealth visit. me: I'm definitely not thinking clearly esp given it took me 20 mins to remember to take tylenol when I got home. couldn't figure out how to telehealth.

doc didn't recommend paxlovid for me since they said if I've been boostered and have no other complicating conditions, I shouldn't need it and they're seeing a lot of rebound. Explained it's headcold for the first few days, then coughing. They said to check back in if I had trouble breathing or things got worse and then they'd look into meds.

I got apple juice, sugar free menthol thingies and forgot to grab more rapid tests. I've got enough in the house to last three more tests if needed. I'm off work for the rest of the week if I want to be, need to text J and tell him I won't be shearing on friday. already told my parents it would be questionable about strawberry planting this weekend.

I guess I'm being forced to rest. I had a feeling I was going to get sick with something.

Tested positive for covid this morning, first time I've had it. Currently feels like sore throat and a little tired. Either it is from the hockey games despite strict masking or I caught it in the office when I went in on Thursday, goofed it by taking my mask off since there was only two people in and they weren't working near me. I know better.

Need to text my boss, and the people I had dinner with on sunday. Line on the test was very faint, so I'm hoping I didn't have enough viral load to spread it.

I'll call my doctor, not that I've spoken to her in around two years. Ah well.

my weekend isn't over yet but many things

Friday night, I ran to both the hardware store and the lumber mill to get supplies, great success, got everything I needed. Came back and didn't really do much else because my face hurt. Had dinner with F's family and we ate thai takeout that was delicious.

I had pain in my jaw, throat and ear for a couple of days and then yesterday finally spent the morning in urgent care where they figured I had an infection in my gum or the impacted wisdom tooth that I've had forever. I'm now on antibiotics and taking ibuprofen which is helping but I'm tired. I keep getting woken up in the night, probably because I touch my jaw and it wakes me up. Need to call my dentist on tuesday.

Yesterday afternoon, B, F and I drove over to Webs Yarn Store, which was good fun. Other than the fact that my stomach hated the takeout and I had to request multiple bathroom stops. Very upset stomach. Lots of yarn in the store which I admired and squished. Got some weaving yarn, some fiber and supplies. The funny thing is that I no longer want to buy yarn, I just want to spin it. I also picked up fiber for F's either birthday or christmas present in orange which is her favorite color and I'm going to spin it up. My birthday was this past week and she got me a present of an antique niddy noddy which I wasn't expecting but was very sweet. B also managed to bonk my in the head with the loom she purchased. It was an inkle loom and she had it in her basket, I kneeled down to look at something and she turned and caught me behind the ear. On my right side. So now that's sore too.

This morning I finished up the outlet run in the living room. Went well, pretty easy hookups and stuff. Five outlets, 3 single gang, 2 double gang with one USB added outlet too. I need to connect it all to the main wire in the basement still but I'm tired and took a nap. I'll get that hooked up soon. I have supplies to re-do four other outlets, one in the living room and three in the dining room but they aren't urgent. I bought a hilariously long spade bit for drilling holes down to where the junction boxes are because there apparently isn't a middle option between a 4 inch long spade bit and a 12 inch spade bit.

I'm definitely not going to get all the things done that I wanted to complete this weekend, like all of the baseboard heating but I just don't feel well and my face hurts so such as life I guess.

Hopefully the antibiotics kick the infection to the curb soon because I'm very irritated with how my jaw hurts and the ibuprofen only does so much.
