We got around a foot of snow, no ice at all. It stayed aroudn 7F all day sunday and rose to a balmy 20F yesterday. My dad got giddy and spent a good portion of the day plowing all the snow, I think he's missed doing it since I came back and have doing it. I cleaned off all the vehicles and shoveled the sidewalk at least. It was -8F this morning somewhat unexpectedly, but I left the faucet dripping and everything was okay there.

I felt under the weather the last two days, I think I stressed myself out too much with Friday and Saturday work, especially the straw spreading so intensely. My problem elbow (right) feels weird. Not super sore, just weird. I was using it more when putting bales in the shredder to keep pressure off the wound in my left index finger and I think it's unhappy because of that. Someday I will get that checked out. But also I suspect I have a period coming up this week which is always a terrible time. I was able to get a new T prescription finally but the effects won't kick back in for a bit. I suspect my tiredness is hormonal related generally. Bleh.

Sunday, I spent a good amount of time spinning, which is something I can do so long as I remember to keep my index finger away from thr wool. Can't knit for sure.

I did remove the stitches yesterday, the skin flap finally sealed itself up solidly and the stitches touching things were hurting more than the cut, so I just got them out. Plus I think I was fussing with them in my sleep even though I had wrapped it. It still makes washing dishes extremely difficult.

Yesterday, I read fanfiction, made this cookie recipe (delicious even if it was way way way too thick to pipe even after adding a lot more milk, I wonder if the milk quantity was a typo), tried making foccacia and burned the bejeesus out of it, made risotto for dinner and crafted. I was very tired and down feeling for most of the day but I did perk up and feel better with crafting hangout time. Yay socializing! Plus I made progress on projects.

Fanfiction wise, I have started reading a few witcher fanfics. I don't even go there, but somehow ended up reading (via the author gremble rec'd below):

The Accidental Warlord and His Pack by inexplicifics - listen, I don't even go here. I know basically nothing about Witcher, but this series explains everything anyway. It's very enjoyable. Very wish fulfillment but enjoyable all the same

Then I looked at friend [personal profile] dragonlady7 (bomberqueen17 on Ao3 and tumblr)'s fic which I do love all the stuff she writes in other fandoms and decided to jump in and have read almost all of her witcher fics in the last three days. It's over 1 million words. It's very good. Still ongoing but she's a great writer and I do love threesomes with feelings and she likes writing those. Even her smut is usually in service of character and relationships development so I'll read it which is pretty good for my taste. Most times smut is skippable but I'll read hers mostly.

other two fanfics I've been reading lately

Bring Down Rain by gremble - ever want to think about the inherent horror of ComfortUnits in the Murderbot universe but also how they're people too???? it's so good. Still updating, but the author is pretty consistent and it's almost done

for the want of a jewel by FormLessVoidbeast - The above series reminded me of this original fic which I had read first and now that I've looked, it is inspired by it. Really fun and good, interesting worldbuilding too.

What a great OT3. I tend to stick to their tag when reading TFA fic because there's a lot of fics I definitely don't want to read (cough crylo ren cough)

But there's been some incredible and spectacular fics I've found and I might get them all together and do a rec list because that's one of my favorite things to do! I've done most of the reading on mobile and haven't been tracking what they were so I need to go back through the tag which would be SUCH a hardship.

yay star wars

there are some fics where I read the tags and go, it can't be that bad right?

yes

thats why it was tagged that way

and I'm very proud to say that I looked at the tags and decided I didn't want to look at that dove or eat it and I'm probably miles better for it

thank god

I kinda sorta did the last two days in my head. But I figured I'd actually make a post about this one.

Day 3
n your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

So I have:

Where Oceans Bleed Into The Sky which was a fic I wrote entirely when I was abroad in Ireland and had a lot more free time than I expected. It's the longest thing that I've ever completed and edited to a point where it could be put online. It's

Let It Go is a fic that I wrote in less than a day which is really unusual for me.

fifteen percent concentrated power of will is a posterchildren fanfic I wrote and the posterchildren is a very tiny fandom/series anyway. I wrote about my very favorite character and it was awesome.

I haven't written for a while but I'm thinking that one of my new projects will be taking my NaNo from years ago and rewriting it. It's 55k and the plot is decent, with most of the story written. It needed a climax and aftermath and then it was finished but I won NaNo five days early because I had two exams the last week of November that year. I've also got another fic I want to keep writing that's around 16k and going. Writing is hard

There is a thin line between "Sam Wilson is a good friend and emotionally supports his friends" and "Sam Wilson is there to be emotional support" in fanfics but it makes a biiiiiiiig difference in the stories

Partners by SallyExactly

Let me tell you, it is one of the top 5 fics that I've ever read

just so good. so good.

The first fic in the series is 170k and this one is already 300k with four more chapters to go

it's full of action and adventures and some really awesomely written fight scenes (a lot of really awesomely written fight scenes) and I enjoy it a ton

I reread it every so often because it is so amazing

we weren't build for this by ftmsteverogers
Rating: M
Warnings: Graphic Depictions of Violence
Relationships: Bucky Barnes/Steve Rogers/Sam Wilson
Characters: Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, Steve Rogers
Tags: Road Trip, Asexual Bucky Barnes

Summary: “We’re going to the place you promised to take me,” Steve said, meeting Bucky’s eyes in the rear view mirror. “All those years ago. Do you remember?”

The memory sprung unbidden to his mind: Steve’s cold, small hand cupping his cheek, the low murmur of his own voice in the dark: someday we’ll get outta here, pal, someday I’m gonna take you where you’ll finally feel warm. Steve’s mouth at his jaw, smiling against the skin behind his ear. Bucky’s body aching from being so full of love, enough to split him in two, enough to make his ribs hurt as he pressed Steve’s small body close to him.

“The Grand Canyon,” Bucky said, and wetted his lips with the tip of his tongue. “Right?”

Notes: OT3 OT3 OT3 really lovely with some angst and some comforting. Bucky POV and really great

Okay so hear me out, marve/mcu but modern day au where clint, nat and sam were all in the same combat unit. it was nat and clint for the longest time and they said they wouldn't leave unless the other wanted to and they both were discharged (I think is the term) after something something left clint permanently deaf but they met sam after the aftermath of riley's death while stateside and just adsorbed him into their group and then all three decided to leave the military for good

so they set up a bakery okay

sam works the front because he's fucking adorable and everyone loves him, clint and nat bake because they've both (somehow backstory blah blah) got mad baking skills like clint and nat are a force to be reckoned with unless it cooking because clint shouldn't be allowed to try fancy cooking, he explodes things that shouldn't be possible.

ANYWAY they all live together above the bakery because it's in a small town where the shops have just one level of apartments above them and they become A Thing, the three of them. Like ace Nat finally gets tired of clint's failboating and sam's flirting with people and smushes their faces together and sleeps in the same bed (except when they have sex because ew no)

and everything is domestic and adorable and they all have their bad days of PTSD and sucky pasts and so many friendships with the nerds next door with the books/gaming store (pepper and steve and tony) and the folks who run the restaurant down the stree (peggy and maria and nick) and some others who I haven't thought about

and finally one day out of the blue nat just decides the three of them should get married because they could have a fricken awesome dessert table at their wedding

and then they do

...but you made Sam Wilson the team therapist and that is NOT COOL

I fucking love adorable AU's like coffee shop AU's and flower shop AU's and cute things like that

LOVE THEM

Pet peeve: people posting separate works that are 100 words long in the same series rather than putting them in chapters

I don't want to see six "different" fics in the same series posted within an hour that are between 50 and 300 words
