unicorndukeToday I drove 2.5 hours to a conference, spoke for two hours (half hour before the talk of discussion with co-presenter, half hour of actual talking, half hour of looking interested at co-presenters stuff, half hour of talking to people after presentation), then drove home. It went well! I was actually covering for two other people and I think I did okay. I masked, and I know it affected how I spoke at least a little bit. I had to talk louder and enunciate more and had to take pauses to rein in what I was saying and how I was saying it. Amusingly, I met someone there that I've been casual instagram friends with for a while, not 100% sure how she connected the dots since I don't know that I ever had my full name on that instagram account, but not worried about it. Or I might have had full name years ago, I can't remember. We've been instagram friends at least four years, probably closer to five or six and we've chatted a few times in dms.
Drive was easy, there was some lake effect snow in the conference area overnight but by the time I got there at 9, it had been cleared from the highways entirely and just the city was meh.
Mara was extremely grumpy with me this morning, I made her get up and go out to pee at 6:15am, which was too early for her tastes. It was short because it was 7F with -2 windchill and I hit the road promptly at 6:30. F took her out at noon and I just let her outside. She's pretty grumpy about the short walks but given how cold it is, her feet get cold really really quickly these days, so better to keep it short and sweet than to have to push/carry her inside while her feet are too cold and she's picking them up funny. It is supposed to be 32F tomorrow and up over freezing this week, so that won't be an issue.
I'm in bed already, very tired as my sleep has been disrupted the last two nights. I couldn't fall asleep friday night for reasons I couldn't figure out so I stayed up very late reading, then last night I kept waking up every hour or so until 1am when I slept through until my alarm at 5. I was very tired when I got up.
Work tomorrow but I get to take time off this week for working on a sunday, so just need to figure out when I'm doing that.
