Home at last
Nov. 25th, 2023 05:23 pmYesterday we went to Longwood Gardens, a place I would love to go when it's not absolutely packed with people for the Christmas lights. They had an enormous series of greenhouses all built onto each other that I would love to spend about a week in. My calves are sore, we did about 8km according to pokemon go. The lights were pretty neat. I am impressed by how they wrapped the trees with lights, wrapping all along a lot of branches. It must be really time consuming to do. Very cool effects. We were all very tired when we got back, Z got dropped at the train and we hung at the house for a bit and I went to bed early. Mara got me up twice in the middle of the night but not bad.
I got up in the morning on time, took her out, packed and we hit the road at 7:59 am, beating my departure time by 1 minute. No one else was awake yet, but I had said goodbye the night before. I was very glad I got on the road on time because as I was going through the busy areas, traffic was just starting to get busy and an hour later, would probably be backups.
I've been laying in bed since I got back, in a bit of a funk. Playing video games and reading a book. But travel days always feel really weird. I'm currently watching tv show and finishing one mitten, I'm almost done with the thumb. This pair of mittens will be lined with something, I'm debating between the mohair combing waste and the alpaca fleeces I have. Either would work, I think I'm going to needle felt them on for lack of better options.
Mara is still sleeping and I still need to feed her dinner and take her out for the evening, but I'm letting her sleep. She did the ride decently without the gabepentin, but did seem a little uncomfortable in the last hour of the drive.

Date: 2023-11-26 02:17 am (UTC)Hurrah for a save return!
Coping-with-crowds is a thing that runs out faster than it refills plenty plausibly, and being out is widely reported to lead to taking to one's bed and not feeling like doing anything.
Those sound like they're going to be extremely warm mittens!
Glad Mara made it through the return OK.
