I got home from shearing the last three sheep (one was so bad that I had to have R help me hold her in place the entire time I sheared her, another flipped herself upright, ended up with her head between my legs and then jammed her horns into the back of my calves four or five times), F told me the bad news about the boiler. There is a three way switch in the boiler itself that got stuck. It's stuck on heat. It normally flips back and forth between the heat and domestic hot water. The tech was going to try and flip it back manually, because hot water matters more right now than heat (getting up into the low 60s F in the next two days), but it is nice and stuck and needs to be replaced.

2-3 days to be sent in and replaced woot.

F said her sister at the farm offered her shower. I was tired enough, and I take really short showers, that I just decided to take a cold shower. (1 hour round trip to take a five minute shower at 7pm at night, no thanks!) I also have field work tomorrow, so I really don't need to be squeaky clean and smelling nice because I'm just going to get sweaty again. Plus I'll be heading to my parents place on friday and can always shower/do laundry while I'm there.

The cold shower wasn't the worst, I'll be honest. I've hopped in colder streams. Probably the water in the pipes was at least 60F. I also turned on my heated blanket and warmed my clean clothes under it. Got damp, soaped and shampoo'd and then rinsed. I wasn't that cold afterwards and it mostly reminded me that when I was a kiddo and my family would camp overnight down by the creek (mountain fed creek), I would get up in the morning and go swimming in the creek. It was chilly but I had fun.

I was planning to run the dishwasher this evening, so we're going to boil water to wash all those dishes. My past self stocked our emergency bin with bowls, a box of plasticware and cups. F had plates so we're all set there.

We don't really need laundry or we wash on cold anyway.

Anyway, I'm eating ice cream cake, I had a hankering

Those sheep sound like a real handful. Personally I'd want a good shower after dealing with them. Hope the part comes in a timely manner.

Hurrah for ice cream cake!

Glad the water wasn't the 2C of well water of the farm parts of my childhood. That was Too Cold for washing one's self.

May all the necessary parts promptly arrive!
