Apartment Done

unicorndukeI took today off work and headed to the city to handle the apartment. I got there around 10:30, grabbed the last bit of mail, unplugged the internet modem and wifi and then drove them to the spectrum store. It was an easy drop off.
I got fuel and then went over to my storage unit to find the warping board. I thought it was down in the weird gap in the middle where I had put some tall skinny items like a folding chair. It wasn't there. I thought maybe I had somehow fit it in the bin from Christmas with all the other gifts. This was the second to last bin at the bottom of the biggest stack of boxes. Got everything shifted off it, looked in it and it wasn't there. Because it was too long. I did think about bringing that bin of fiber stuff back but there was also a weighted blanket in the bottom and I really didn't need more fiber to play with since I have a box here.
Finally finally, after standing in the depths of my storage unit for a solid ten minutes trying to figure out where I put it, I realized that I had put two identical cheap shelves together and I thought they were one deep shelf. Spent 20 minutes gently shifting the shelf slightly sideways enough that I could fit my hand between the shelves to turn the box with the warping board upright and into the gap. Then I shifted it more to squeeze the box out, which was about an inch and a half wide, which I did eventually do. I had to turn it upright as I pulled it out because of how little space there was. I may have broken something on the shelf but it probably was just a small nail holding the backing to the front shelf.
Went back to the apartment, feeling my success, did a little bit of cleaning then the carpet cleaners called and said they would be there by 1! Given the timeframe was 12-5 I was ecstatic.
They came, they cleaned the carpets, they left. (I did tip them because the one room was very gross). I cleaned the rest of the "hardwood" floors and got a little dusting done but I was so done with everything. I am now realizing I did leave the roll of toilet paper in the apartment oh well.
And I turned in the keys.

They will inspect the place on the 1st and I'm guessing we won't get our deposit back because of the carpet in Jade's room despite the best work of the cleaner. I don't even care. I no longer need to think about the apartment ever again.
F and I have been emailing back and forth on the details of our legal agreement sans lawyer because they didn't want to call us back and will probably be submitting for our pre-approval this week. And then we search. :) Housing searching part 2 electric boogaloo
