Our Heat Isn't Working
Sep. 20th, 2020 07:56 pm*heavy sigh*
I can't tell if it's something across the whole building or something in our apartment specifically. It's been down to freezing at night here and not more than 60 during the day. It was pretty chilly this morning in here. Turned the heat on. I can hear a weird noise somewhere that sounds like the heat is attempting to turn on but I haven't been able to locate where. It makes the noise every 10 minutes or so for like 5 seconds. We've got baseboard heat. I talked to Jade about it and we're just going to wait a bit before we report it. It's supposed to warm up for at least a week after tomorrow so we won't need the heat for a bit. I don't have the energy, she doesn't have the energy. We'll put in a maintenance request at some point soon.

Sleep socks can be a help.

Date: 2020-09-22 01:46 pm (UTC)Huzzah, heat is fixed!
(It sounds suspiciously like your heat got turned off in the spring and someone neglected to switch it back on, not expecting it to get this cold in September.)
Extra blankets are good!
Feet that get colder with socks is weirdly non-cooperative of them but at least they're warm at night. (I can't sleep well with cold feet; no idea how universal this is.)

Date: 2020-09-22 02:06 pm (UTC)I think being unable to sleep with cold feet is pretty normal, if my feet are too cold I can't sleep at all but for the most part I keep heaviest blankets on my feet and lighter on the rest of me.

Date: 2020-09-22 02:12 pm (UTC)Oh, they totally ought to have turned the heat back on, but if there's a "go round and flip all those switches" schedule, odds are the regular date isn't until October sometime.
So either someone scuttled around in a tearing hurry and missed a few, or heat to units got turned back on in complaint order. (I would be unsurprised if it was complaint order.) Not the best way to run a railroad but not likely something you ought to take personally.
