I'm so proud of myself.

Somehow in my measuring and rototilling, I ended up with three extra rows of space. Two are because I condensed my planting due to having less plants and seeds than expected. One is because when I put in my spring crops, they are positioned on either side of the fall crops, which are smack in the middle. So it goes summer|spring|fall|fall|spring|summer. Except for one row of peas which is for PYO customers and closest to the strawberries. When I did my initial rototilling of my spring crops, I measured out where to rototill to in the spring crops, then I drove to the north end of the field, kinda eyeballed the edge and put one row in there. There was a rye vetch cover crop in the summer section.

As it turns out, I managed to add about 6 feet to my field all the way across. I'm okay with this except I had some trouble coming up with things to put in there. I'm a little limited on what melons, watermelons and squash I can plant because I'm trying to keep them relatively isolated so I can save seed. The melons are Minnesota Mini (palm sized) and Iroquois Melon (got it in a trade) and the watermelons are Winter King and Queen (storage!!!! watermelon) and Royal Golden (yellow skin). I also had a spot in the fall section where the experimental peas had died over the winter and it was pretty far from the other watermelons, so I put in Blacktail Mountain, which is an early, smaller variety.

So I filled one row with just random assorted seed, small amounts of older seed, stuff like that. Mom had used part of the extra wide row for her stuff, and I filled most of the rest with flowers, which I used up all of them. I hope they survive because I'm not watering them.

I've still got one row open in my summer grains section. I think I'm going to plant some extra stuff I've got around in there but we'll see. All of my transplants perked up with the two days of rain in a row. I was very worried that I wouldn't be able to plant my potatoes, mostly because I wanted to use the hilling disks for the cultivating tractor, and you can't drive a tractor in a field that's too wet.

But I was in luck! It was hot this morning and dried out quickly despite the rain (a quarter inch, so not too bad)

They were relatively easy to attach, which requires an adjustable wrench and a pounder hammer. I was just guessing on how to put them on and height and all that jazz and forgot to take a picture. But it worked super well!

A weedy row of potatoes are about six inches tall.

I hold a hilling disk close to the cultivating sweeps on the belly mounted tractor.

The row of potatoes has been hilled and is weed free.

I think I need to set them a little lower in the tool bar.

What is chronological order of telling a story, we just don't know. Yesterday I got all my transplants in but the rice and planted all of my vegetable rows except the extras. I also got two or so rows of the grains planted before I had to leave to shower/clean out my truck to fit another person plus dog/leave for cousin's graduation party. We went down and it poured twice but it was a fun time. There's a whole other saga of puppy nonsense which I'll post another time because I'm very tired.

Then this morning I had a late start but got all my rice transplanted and finished up the rest of the field. Did I more or less throw some things in the ground very quickly, yes. It's fine though. I've got more thoughts and pictures but I'm literally falling asleep as I type so I'm going to bed.

"I planted EVERYTHING"

And the World Tree will sprout anew!

An impressive job!

Probably too warm there for quinoa in the summer grains.
