 Science has determined that the best laser to scare birds is wide beam green lasers. 

Okay I say.

Only wide bean green lasers are shipping from China. 

So now I'm left with the dilemma, do I order 2 for the scarecrows I have planned or do I order like 5 as a just in case? These lasers are about $25 each and expedited shipping is around $35. I also don't have one with me, so I don't know how I'll mount them. But like, that's the easy part?

Order five so you're paying 35/125 = 28% shipping instead of 70% shipping?

China does make a lot of cheap stuff; they also make stuff nobody else can, it's something of a got-to-know-what-you're-getting problem. No specific idea about the lasers but it's not inherently going to be a faulty product.

Oh I meant shipping time. No one in the US has these particular lasers in stock and no other green lasers were wired right. So it was either anywhere from a month to two months for $7 shipping or $35 for twoish week shipping. I get impatient sometimes and I didn't want to wait so long.

The lasers are actually pretty nice, I've handled the ones that were used in the initial prototype from the university and they were pretty good quality from what I could see.

And, yeah, waiting for the boat is an annoyance, even when it's "next boat" instead of "whenever boat".

It's okay! I reread what I wrote and it did sound that way.

I guess fast shipping here has spoiled me, I'm used to a week tops so the longer wait is irritating me. But two weeks is plenty fast.

This is the problem with China being quite literally the other side of the world; no escaping either the boat or the exorbitant airmail fees.

So perhaps not spoiled, just used to things starting closer. :)
