I saw Captain Marvel saturday and it was awesome!

I absolutely loved the whole thing and one of the best things is that no one really died!! I was so scared that Maria Rambeau would die because people seem to love killing off the "unimportant" secondary characters but she didn't! She got back safe! That whole everything at Maria's house was so so lovely too. I loved a lot of the tiny details too. Like, they left the sound of the peepers in the scene. I hadn't realized that the kiddo was Monica!

Carol's journey to embrace herself and let herself be emotional and true to herself and ahhhhhhhh I love it. I really enjoyed how much of the narrative unfolded, us learning along with Carol all the bits and pieces and lies and truths. It had such touching moments and then humor too, a good balance that I really appreciated.

Overall, it felt more like one of the early MCU movies, with some realism and gradually moving into the fantastic.

I hadn't realized we were getting closer to the actual end of Avengers stuff because I haven't been into it for a long while. I'm considering going to see the endgame movie, if only to see Carol again. But writers changing and all that jazz, who knows.

Also, de-aged Samuel L. Jackson was very odd but really good.

I did not even notice the de-aged SLJ. People later mentioned it being a little 'uncanny valley' for them but I...did not.

I wonder if age has anything to do with it. I saw plenty of SLJ movies back in the 90s (sometimes it felt like you couldn't throw a stone without hitting him or Bruce Willis and frequently both), so I know what he looked like and I'm guessing that the CGI team had plenty of footage of him during that time so they could 'adjust' accordingly.
