last time I tried to be on here, there wasn't much activity so maybe there will be more. I'm mostly on pillowfort tbh and I miss it even though it's only been a week and a half and it'll be up soon.

I gotta find out how to crosspost from DW to PF. I think that's probably the way to go, and people will settle for one or the other, and I don't mind that, I just want to be where the people are.

I have already seen a post on DW I wanted to reblog, LOL. Whoops, guess I'll miss that more than I expected.

yeah, I think that's definitely a good way to go, cross posting between dreamwidth and pillowfort in some way.

I was thinking about it last night in terms of engagement and why people gravitate to one platform or another.

Tumblr was popular because it had a low level of engaging. if you wanted you could just lurk and reblog shit. easy.

dreamwidth has a high level of engaging and that's your real only option as far as I can tell. you can't just scroll, you need to talk to people and sometimes I just don't wanna.

so idek. both, many. I was on twitter for like two seconds but apparently I really broke myself from it for good because I keep forgetting about it.

Seconding the crossposting between them. DW will probably figure it out first; they're the ones who are good with that sort of thing. (Also this site is currently fully functional.)

I am sincerely hoping pillowfort figures out its security issues soon. This is a terrible time to have that happen.

Pillowfort is now back up from their hiatus but having super issues with loading. Unfortunately I don't think it's a good thing to have a huge influx of users like this. They're still in beta and at least six months from a full rollout. I think they're doing really good so far but having a huge increase in users isn't going to help things at all. Plus people are being very silly about the whole thing since they're upset about tumblr going down.

I think they mentioned somewhere that they're having a 15x increase in traffic and they haven't even sent out the keys for the folks who bought them during hiatus. So. We'll see.

I mean, I really enjoy using it and I love it because it's the perfect blend of commenting and scrolling for me. I can engage or not based on the day and find stuff later. It's still a site in progress and it might not be the best to stress test it so hard right now. idek.

That is exactly my worry. I think the site's a neat idea, but influxes of this volume have killed young sites off before. Journalfen basically struggled with the same thing over the entire course of its history, to the point where they had to severely limit user accounts several times and finally went down entirely. Insanejournal had a similar influx when LJ went down and wobbled pretty hard; it never entirely recovered from the reputation for instability.

It's just not good timing, I guess.
