Unihertz Tank Mini 1
Oct. 22nd, 2024 10:31 amI like this phone so far. I literally got it running yesterday and I think I have everything logged in and ready.
It's slightly smaller in front size than the Unihertz Atom L which was my previous phone and the screen is noticeably narrower. It it wider in the side, probably almost a quarter inch wider which took me off guard. But it has an included laser measure which is neat and a big light on the back of it as well as the small phone light. The camera is raised a bit as well as the big light.
So far I'm not fond of the power button, which is an inbuilt button rather than a raised button, I've struggled to hit it when wanting to turn the screen off and lock it. The volume buttons on the other side are raised up. The big light button and a programmable button are inset. The feel of the phone in my hand is excellent, it's got heft, much heavier than the Atom L. The laser measure is fun, it does distance and area and in theory volume.
The narrower screen makes buttons really small and I'm struggling to accurately tap keyboard buttons but also the screen is very location sensitive, so if I miss a little, I don't tap the button I'm aiming for.
The text size seems really random across apps, some are really big and some are normal size.
Google messaging app does not like Unihertz phones and won't receive group texts. I went back to the Messages+ from verizon but they're discontinuing it in November, so I'm going to trial Textra and see if that works better, will test this weekend when I can steal my mom's phone and send a bunch of test texts
Hopefully I don't break this phone. At the very least, I don't think it will be very comfortable to sit on, so I probably won't break it in the same way

Not breaking it in the same way is really about the only thing someone can ask, and hopefully it shall be a long time coming.
