rip in pieces my phone

it's had cracks in the screen for a year or two now and it's survived better than any other phone I've ever had, but I had it in my back pocket and sat on it against the edge of the seat and now half the screen is black overlaid on the old cracks in blobby shapes. Oops. I can still unlock it and type, turns out touch typing and autocorrect do a good job. 

So I hopped on unihertz's website and bought a Tank Mini, which looks like a solid phone and more updated than an atom L which is what I have currently. Same price basically too, so it's ordered and hopefully coming soon. In the meantime, I'm going to pop my sim card into the spare phone I have, which is a very cracked screen motorola power g which I bought the atom to replace, but the screen still works. It was my pokemon go alt account.

Yeah, I need to start putting it in a different pocket but not all of my pants have side pockets big enough for a phone and I'd rather have it consistent through all pants so I know I have it.

What kind of case do you have on the phone?
Clunky as it is, I've used Otterbox successfully. However, I do not carry my phone in my pocket. Instead I hang it on my jeans. Because I'm very, very short waisted I hate the "belt" tool containers, they put things too high and interfere with arm movement. Years ago I installed two grommets in a leather phone pouch, ran a >1/2 strap to them from each side and clipped the strap to my belt loops with tiny S shaped clips. This holds the top of the phone pouch an inch or so below my belt. They don't make otterboxs for the atom l, the phone is pretty darn sturdy on it's own, I've dropped it multiple times onto pavement and it's survived fine, so it's lasted pretty well for me. I dislike having hanging things, I find they catch too much for my taste, so I do pockets. I'm going to try moving it to side thigh pockets since most of my pants have those pockets big enough for a little phone. We'll see. This is how I destroyed my last phone back in 2021, so at least I'm consistent in my destruction.

I am still using my Atom L for bedside reading, but I've been using the Jelly Star (sometimes referred to as my tinyphone) for everyday use. I did switch the SIM over for going to France in the summer, to minimise the number of things I was carrying, but I don't think I'll bother for future trips, just stick with the Jelly Star and take a tablet if I want a bigger screen.

Unfortunately, I do too much stuff from the field to have a tiny phone, I need to do photos for work, some data entry, email checking, things like that. I wish I could get away with tinier! But the Atom L is a good size for me and the tank looks to be similar. It also survived really well compared to other phones and I destroyed it the same way I broke my last phone back in 2021, so I really need to stop sitting on my phones.
