  • Stones by Nnedi Okorafor - beautiful short story Link
  • The Grief of Stones by Katherine Addison - much like the first book in the series, really wonderful and a look at the best and worst of people and someone who has devoted their life to sad work and trying their best. Library e-book
  • The Oleander Sword - second in the series and honestly, everyone is sad and nothing is okay. This book was a slog, it took me twice as long to read as normal. There will be a third at some point in the next year or two. This book had a lot of plot stuff but literally everyone is miserable the whole time. Hopefully the third is less miserable. Library e-book
  • Handwoven Magazine Sept/Oct 2023 - Library magazine
  • Penric's Demon by Lois McMaster Bujold - a delightful romp of a demon possession, I checked a bunch of the next out of the physical library - Library e-book
  • The Wicked Bargain by Gabe Cole Novoa - really good, pirates and magic and the devil and finding yourself. More YA style writing but really good. Library e-book
  • Trial of the Sun Queen by Nisha J. Tuli - High Fae fantasy with a really compelling writing style and unreliable narrator. I devoured this book. Library e-book
DNF
  • Stars in My Pocket Like Grains of Sand by Samuel R. Delany - sci-fi, interesting premise, way way way too crass about sex for my tastes
  • A Safe Girl to Love by Casey Plett - really lovely writing style but too much sex for my tastes

I loved The Goblin Emperor and I love love love Penric. The most recent novella is… hard… but an important perspective on the gods.
