Of course she was better at the vet

She was wobbly on her feet when I took her out at 11 so I made an emergency vet appointment for 2pm. by the time I got her there, Mara was mostly doing better, on her feet decently and alert. Vet suggested looking over her bloodwork and then better painkillers. Mara now has an aspirin type painkiller and she's currently barking at nothing now that we're home.

How does anyone make this determination arg. She's better than she was this morning!

I'm exhausted. She's barking. Oh well.

I have been in this boat with one of my cats - he'd be lying limp on the floor coughing, we'd rush him to the vet, they'd give him oxygen, and he'd be bouncing off the walls of the little rubbermaid tub in a matter of minutes, repeat twice a week...

of the pets I've had to put to sleep, it was the hardest call. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

This is such a hard part of a pet's life. Much sympathy.
