unicornduke Goals for March:
I made cloth! This was the big project and I'm very pleased with how it turned out. I wouldn't go wider than that just because of the difficulty managing it, this was about 30 inches wide. All handspun 2 ply yarn, Jacob was the dyed warp and grey Gotland to keep the colors as is. Lessons learned: the organization of the warp threads is vitally important and I need to have a warping board that gives me consistent tension. The warp threads needed to be more spaced out since I didn't quite get the spacing I wanted and I need to do more frequent wraps with the securing yarn. I need to wet finish it still but I'm very happy. I'm also happy to get it off the loom because I've been working on it for months.
I haven't been spinning as much but I finished one of the plys for the
I really like how this sweater turned out! I ran out of the brown yarn before I finished the colorwork but I don't hate how the end of it works. I'm not actually sure this sweater is my style but I may wear it in situations where I'm trying to invoke a specific view of myself like charming people. It's fancy feeling and quite large. It's all handspun Shetland and the white yarn is from the very first fleece that I ever processed, which I bought washed and then flicked, carded and spun it into a 3 ply.
Knit something - I picked back up the sock of doom, which I may or may not finish or make a second sock for but we'll see.
Other- I started warping on a tablet weaving project using my warping board modified.
April Goals
- finish current weaving project - finished!
- spin at least 2 of 3 plys of purple roving (corriedale, finn, ramboulliet blend) - 1/3 done
- finish crocheting sweater (only a sleeve left to go) - finished!
- knit something - in progress
