I think I'm 95% packed???
what???
I did a bunch this weekend and today and I've got a decent amount of garbage to take out. I'm waiting for the dumpsters to be emptied this week
But everything but clothes, bedding, kitchen tools and cleaning supplies are packed or at least in boxes that just need to be taped up when the time comes. Like, the printer is in a box but the box isn't sealed in case I do need to pull it out. My to-do list is like, five things. I still need to do some laundry because the dog blankets and stuff are going in a separate load from my regular laundry.
I need to talk to my friend and hash out the details of the lease (utilities, laundry, parking, etc). Also need to arrange a carpet cleaner to come in.
All my dry goods food is in a box and I'm just pulling things out as needed.
I think I'm going to take a load over to the storage unit Thursday or Friday when it's a little warmer and before the snow on the weekend. Should just be the coffee tables, a cube shelf and maybe one or two other small things like side tables. Maybe one box?
I may rent a small uhaul for the big stuff to storage move depending on how it goes, just because it will be more than one truck load over and my little truck doesn't have a very large bed. There's a uhaul place 2 miles from here and like a quarter mile from my storage unit so it would be easy enough and not super expensive. No word from Jade on weekends but it's looking like not this weekend due to snow.
Three weeks to go.
Hilariously, I sent an email to the office saying we weren't renewing and never got a response so I dropped a hard copy to the office mailbox this morning.

Date: 2022-01-12 11:24 pm (UTC)I think they've gotten a little bit bigger over the past few years so I don't know if it will be as small as they were (my brother's tacoma is smaller than mine and it's a 2012). My only regret was not paying the extra for the tow package but at the time I didn't have a ton of money. I can work around that because I don't really tow things on a regular basis and rental trucks are a thing. The bed has held up well to all the things I throw in it regularly over the summers.
I've been pretty impressed with the Toyotas and they seem to hold up pretty well. My brother has his truck, I have mine and my parents' have the toyota... 4runner? maybe?
I want to say they were bringing back the rangers but I don't know for sure. I honestly don't know if you can get a manual transmission anymore, they might have stopped making them.

Date: 2022-01-13 12:24 am (UTC)The 2006 I currently have is configured very similarly to your Tacoma. V-doors, manual transmission, 4wd. It's a great truck for my work purposes. Fits a fridge or a stove in the back, is easy to load because bed deck is a couple inches lower than in an F-150. Prior to this one, I had a 2000 Ford Ranger which rolled over 300K before I retired it (still running but with rusted out rocker panels) and gave it to brother-the-younger. I bought this one used at 100K, have put about 97K more on it.
There used to be a selection of nice little pickup trucks (Toyota made one, Nissan made one, Ford and Chevy both made one, GMC made one...) and they have all... gotten bigger or been discontinued. *sigh* My dad has a pretty nice condition 2015 Ranger that's an automatic. I guess I can take his once mine dies. (Dad is 80. His need for a small pickup truck is probably in the single-digit years at this point.)

Date: 2022-01-13 12:39 am (UTC)I really like the Tacoma for the lower bed, it's easy to get in and out. The big trucks, even work trucks have such high beds, they're like chest or mid torso height and a chore to get in and out of. It's a little narrow but it's a little truck.
I always wanted one of the little Mazda trucks because they were cute as heck. I don't see them on the road much anymore. Same with the old Rangers. It's a shame because the big trucks are awful for the most part.
My parents had a hell of a time finding an actual work truck when they were last looking. They needed a hauling truck for towing/hauling tractors/equipment/loads of straw/etc and it took them months to find single row seat, 7 (8?) foot bed and towing capable. And that was in 2019!
