I am going to call and get a storage unit now because I just realized that I'm basically going to have January to do the move out. I committed to farm sitting for a friend Feb 5 to 15th. I can probably get 1-2 loads into the storage unit right now although not a ton of the big stuff yet. Mostly shelving, books, fiber. I'm going to start packing up some of my baking supplies that I don't use as much.

lol what am I even doing. (said friend offered me their barn airbnb for renting and I may take them up on it)

I'm also seeing another house today.

Good luck with the house!

Especially when planning a short-term stay, "good enough" is often way more important than "this is perfect"; I'd be very tempted to go for the barn airbnb just to reduce uncertainty.

Well, I'm really good at finding houses with weird structural issues so my search will continue.

I'm leaning towards the barn airbnb and she did offer it at a pretty reasonable price.

Other thing of interest is that B's sister is actually looking for a place and has around the same budget as me. So I'm going to talk to her and see if what we're looking for will match and who knows, maybe something would work. Can't hurt to talk about it.

The percentage of houses with weird structural issues is high!

Certainly can't hurt to talk about it and two incomes is way more resilient. Only critical thing to remember there is the lawyer-involved-at-outset rule, which applies any time one is doing anything unusual with property.

Oh yeah, I think the state requires that lawyers are involved no matter what but I would absolutely get lawyers involved even if the state didn't require it. contracts! they're good! when written and double checked by lawyers!
