Quiet week

I have done very few big things this week. Work has not been busy, personal life has not been busy. I finished my coat mockup enough on Monday that I called it good and did a fit check. Mostly need to make adjustments on the armscye and crafting group was wonderful at helping me with that. I've been combing the fleece I've got here almost every day, at least 2-3 blobs and I'm slowly making progress on it. Did some spinning too.

I gamed with the siblings tuesday night, farm meeting with the parents last night. They've been desperately looking for someone to buy nice white pine flooring from and are struggling to find it. I remembered I buy planks from the sawmill around the corner from me that are very white and turns out that place listed exactly what they wanted (eastern white pine, tongue and groove, 8 or 10 inch wide and milled to order, within a 6 hour drive) on the website so my mom is calling them today. If that goes through, they're going to come and pick it up, stay overnight and we'll load the rest of the truck and trailer with a big chunk of my belongings, but that all won't be until March.

During that call, we looked at the weather and the weekend is going to be gross, snow all day saturday, rain all day sunday and next week cold, so they pushed maple tapping back a week and don't have any major projects that can be worked on in the rain. The parsonage work they have isn't quite a weekend's worth given they need to do more experimenting with the spackling before we make any significant changes. So I'm staying home this weekend since I need to be in the office tomorrow and teaching a zoom class monday. Just means I won't get down there again until March. Ah well. March is going to be very busy.

The oven is still out of commission, but last night F and I discovered the oven has a broiler under the main oven area. She's confused and appalled at herself, I'm mostly neutral because I have never once used the broil function and merely thought that was a storage drawer, also which I never ever use because that's where you store a roasting pan and I don't own one of those. But now I have the model number and can order the part. But honestly, I'm just going to pack all of my baking stuff up. I have a vague hilarious plan to try and bake something on the stove top this weekend, but I can't imagine I'll be baking again before the move. A month and a half isn't that long not to bake. I went two whole months without baking in September and October, I can do 1.5 months. Maybe I'll take some supplies to a friend's a bake there. I don't really want to bake in our basement oven.

Since I'm not traveling, I'm going to need to do some organizing of my room. It's a bit of a disaster zone right now since I've piled things up away from my packed fortress that aren't being packed yet, but I need to sort things. It's good, it'll give me more packing time. I'm hitting the point where I'm starting to clear full shelves which is a great feeling. I have to go dump some old dog food in the woods. I was originally going to try and find a place who would take a half open bag but none of the rescues around here take open bags, so in the woods it goes. That will free up a bin that I can put some awkwardly sized things sitting around in it. We're starting to run out of the accumulated boxes in the basement too.

I have sidejob work to do, but the computer I do it on is throwing many hissy fits, so I may just have to give up on it. The only reason I keep it going is that you can't have two simultaneous dropbox accounts on the same computer (last I checked) and it has the non-subscription based excellent pdf editor on it.
