An actual writeup of my weekend
Apr. 1st, 2019 09:04 amSaturday I pruned raspberries. I hadn't actually done it before, so Mom came out and showed me how and then ended up working with me for part of the morning before she had to go bottle maple syrup. In total we got about 300 row feet done by the end of the day, which was good. I finished out about half of it by myself. I was so sore at the end of the day. My thighs hurt from kneeling and my hand hurt from the clippers because even though they were sharp, I was clearing a lot of dead wood and nine hours of anything will hurt if you aren't used to it.
Then yesterday I got about 100 feet done in the morning on a difficult variety so that was cool. I switched to the larger pruners because they didn't put the same pressure on my palm that the hand pruners did. My hand had swelled up a little along the base of my thumb where the hand pruners sat so I switched and it was better. Now my triceps are sore from the larger pruners (they're like half size lopers? they're amazing and also 100 dollars)
I sat around for a couple of hours, heard the CWHL folded and then drove back. I briefly thought about trying to get back in time for ice skating here but also: sore. I'm not sure when that is going to happen.
On saturday I went and checked out my field to see if it was fit. It was! So I'm heading back down next weekend to get some things planted. ( Read more... )
