It sure went!

No successful houses seen. The very first one was the most promising and I think it had slightly too many cons to be what I'm looking for. It was nice, don't get me wrong. The kitchen was a thing of glory that I can only hope my future kitchen might be. The counterspace. The counterspace

But the yard was oddly shaped, it was way way out there for the price they were asking and I would need to sacrifice part of the yard for a bigger driveway to turn around in because backing out was completely blocked by vegetation on one side (could be removed). I may still keep it in mind. The electrical was kinda questionable in that the panel was pretty rusty and there were so many wires and none of them were bundled together. It was also one large weird bedroom and that would work if it was just me, but Jade is coming with me for now. It wasn't a good firm yes, so it should probably be a no.

The other two were no's as we looked at them. The second one was large and had almost an acre but it was so big and needed so much work including cleaning or replacing part of a flat roof (who puts a flat roof on???) that it became an issue. The kitchen and bathroom both needed renovation.

The third one had a really nice yard but after we started looking at the details, it became clear that there was a lot of shoddy repairs over a bad start. It was on a slab and in one spot, the floor could be bounced. Just really bad workmanship for any kind of repairing or renovation around all the windows and doors. They painted over paneling. They had made a nice entrance way with some kind of tile but did a horrible job on the little bits around the doors.

But, it was good to get a sense of my realtor and she was a good sport about the drive. I think she got a sense of me and we had a good chat about what the market looks like. I'm going to keep looking and we'll see how it goes.

Yay, making a start!

The electrical was kinda questionable in that the panel was pretty rusty and there were so many wires and none of them were bundled together.

I made a keening noise and started backing into my chair.

When I was wee-small, we moved into a farmhouse that turned out to have the electrical system grounded to both the hot and the cold water pipes, which you found out -- I did find out -- by grabbing both sides of the brass taps on the laundry tub at the same time. Dad taught electricians at the time and could and did fix it, but "dubious electrical wiring" (like "unspecified leak" and "what is that smell?") is one of those things as should get upgraded a category or two of alarm.

keening intesifies

Looks like a skilled plumber, but yeah. Whoever did the electrical has has their ability to care surgically removed.

The thing I remember about househunting was how exhausting it was, even if you only looked at a handful of houses. And we were looking at 6-8 in a day.

Definitely sounds like you've got a good realtor!
