Life is chaos (minor chaos ish)
Sep. 19th, 2021 07:12 pmI have had A Week
Monday was normal. I made the first pumpkin pies of the season and they were delicious.
Tuesday I drove out to my coworkers farm so we could get some stuff done. It's about an hour away and I take the highway for most of that drive, going 70mph. I stopped to get ice cream on my way home, and took a slightly different route. As I was about to get onto the highway, my coworker texts me that my truck dumped oil all over the place and I needed to stop immediately. I pulled off at the nearest gas station. Had to triage and eventually figured out it would be better to take my truck to the nearest toyota dealer (20 mins back towards my coworker's place) than my mechanic (45 mins home) because my coworker could lend me her fleet vehicle. I put a quart of oil into the truck and drove back. Dropped truck off.
I was supposed to attend a field meeting Wednesday, pick someone up and drop them off at the train station so they could also attend the meeting. Tuesday afternoon, the host pushed the meeting back to October because of the thunderstorm's predicted for Wednesday.
Worked from home Wed morning, got the call from the dealer. The oil filter wasn't tightened when I got my oil changed recently and it had gradually loosened. I was grumpy but also happy that nothing worse had happened. I drove out and picked up my truck.
Wed night,
dragonlady7 so kindly offered to help me crack 75 pounds of garlic for my 2022 planting, so I drove over in a break in the weather and we sat in the farm stand and cracked garlic. We got it all done. It was so nice! I gave them pie since I had two pies and it was a lot.
Thurs I drove to the Champlain Valley (the North Country) and helped a specialist with an apple harvest. We weren't harvesting, we had a couple of the farm's crew to do the harvest. We weighed, counted, bagged and tagged the apples because science. At one point, I was holding a bag of 40 honeycrisp apples at chest height so the helper (who was tall) could more easily put the apples in the bag. That was heavy. Then I drove home.
Friday I had three hours of meetings first thing in the morning and I had to take notes for all of that. Then I sat around for a little bit, then drove to my parents' place. I did nothing else Friday because I was tired.
Saturday and Sunday I worked a bunch of hours on the farm. With the fall business, there are all the displays that need to be set up for gourds, pumpkins, etc, and I apparently have an eye for it. I didn't think it was that difficult of a concept/process but apparently they need me to do it. Sure. So I spent the weekend clearing out the rest of the selling area, pulling things out, getting tables set into place, putting together the false bottom bins so we had deeper displays and shallower displays and getting the pumpkin displays into place. I got everything done that I wanted to get done with an hour and a half to spare. It was awesome. I picked decorative corn that was ready for the last bit.
We also had a little cookout in the backyard with the moveable firepit and cooked the delicious delicious cheesy kielbasa sticks that the local convenience/feed store makes.
I just got home a few minutes ago and am currently setting up my new phone! I got a Unihertz Atom L to replace the poor giant flat phone that is already very cracked and I think it may survive my everything.

Date: 2021-09-21 01:24 am (UTC)I'm trying to remember if I've made a pumpkin pie before, I don't think I have. Must try it one year when I get decently big pumpkins to grow. (AHAHAHAHA.)
