And I still have no fucking clue what happened.
There are three groups involved in this and I will attempt to make this vaguely clear. So I found streamer 1 who founded a non profit for a Community and through them, I found streamer 2. I've been watching both their stuff for months/almost a year now. I joined their discords for all three (streamer 1, community, streamer 2). Streamer 2 was hired by Community to do some design stuff but I think it was stipend level money. Given that it was a very part time job, that makes sense in a this-nonprofit-has-little-money way.
I noticed for a little while that Streamer 2 wasn't really active in Community. I didn't think much of it, I haven't been active in streams for a bit. Streamer 1 has been busy as well and she was the main person I hung out with in her stream. So I've been doing a lot of lurking.
Then last week, a moderator in streamer 2's discord posted a message saying "streamer 2 and our group is no longer affiliated with Community. It's all good, nothing is wrong! But you should always do the right thing and stand up for what's right"
which. wtf does that even mean.
Someone else in streamer 2's chat asked for details and the mod said they weren't going to talk about any of the details to protect the privacy of others and to let folks who might have joined from that community to "know where we stood"
Now, I don't pay that much attention to things in discord servers because I mostly hate them and I definitely haven't been checking twitter regularly. But like, what the fuck does that all mean. I saw nothing in the Community server and nothing anywhere else in my vague searching.
So how do you know what the right thing is when everything was in DMs and you refuse to talk about it. My guess is that it was a clash of personalities or something but who even knows.
Anyway. Mostly just wanted to write it out and remove it from my brain so I don't devote any more energy to it. I've mostly been lurking in all three groups anyway and I'll probably continue to do that. I don't have the energy. I actually was offered a moderator position with Community and declined because I really can't commit to certain days once field season starts.
All in all, ~internet drama~~~

Information causes change (by that particular definition of information); if there's no information, there's no need to change.

Date: 2021-02-28 01:34 am (UTC)I've been thinking about it a little more and my guess is that streamer 2 committed to do something during Community event that was today and wasn't able to do it and streamer 1 got really intense about it because they strike me as the type and the community event was a Big Deal. So all in all. who fucking knows
