Isocation 2020 Wrapup

I am back to my apartment. I have so much cleaning to do. 

Isocation overall was good. The time at my parents was excellent and I'm glad I did the two weeks isolating so I could see them. Being able to walk outside on the farm without people around was also good. I got quality family time and also did some masked walks with my cousin and sibling that were awesome. Spending time with them that is not working is not much over a year, usually when I'm at the farm, we're working. 

The only negative was the fact that I didn't super handle being by myself towards the end of the two weeks isolating. I did a lot of watching streams and not a lot of actual talking with people so I was going slightly bonkers and didn't realize it. My dog was good company but as it turns out, I'm used to people being around. 

I probably won't be able to do it again, it was pretty expensive. This year, it was worth it. 

My parents asked about me coming down to help with maple syrup tapping in February and I'm leaning towards no. Depends on Jade's schedule but I think she's not working overnights anymore, so my confidence in being covid free is decreased. Like when I stayed in the camper over the summer, I felt okay going into the house masked for using the bathroom or grabbing food from the fridge. But I don't think I will go because test % positive is still increasing in our area and february won't be much better probably. 

So next trip will probably be May for planting strawberries and I'll stay in the camper and we'll have a better idea of how things will go by then. 

Also new neighbors moved in catty corner while I was gone and apparently they play guitar very loudly. Fantastic. 

Goal for this year: move out of this apartment

And yeah, February is probably a bad time to be out and about.

I haven't really been checking the covid cases since I left for Isocation and I'm just going to assume they are bad. Maybe we'll turn it around in a month or so but I highly doubt it. So probably a no on maple tapping. Thankfully it can be done by a smaller crew, it's just easier to have two people out on the mountain at the same time and I already know how to do it. But I'd rather not make my family sick so nope. Jade might be eligible for a vaccine but who even knows and I probably won't be since I'm not a direct ag worker. My parents might be able to get it sooner since they are farmers. Overall, who fucking knows and I'm just going to stay home.

So many people don't get that you have to assume you're contagious and act on that basis, which is admittedly not the lower stress option, but still.

Yeah, I've basically assumed that I'm contagious the whole time because I could have been! People are still testing positive at Jade's work! She's been so good about all of this but it doesn't take much to catch and spread. I was more willing to do slightly risky things like masked outdoor hangouts over the summer but not right now. I think my isocation refreshed me and I feel better about handling all my stuff related to the pandemic.
