A few things

Sleep has been weird this week. I think the symptoms of my period are happening much earlier before my period than they used to. The insomnia is newer and been happening for a while now. Could be mixing with stress. Either way, can't fall asleep starting Wed before my period starts, so a full week. Ugh. Spoke to my doctor back in whenever I went the last few months and she said there's no help for the need to pee suddenly other than use the bathroom more even if I don't feel like going. I do need to keep an eye on escalating symptoms though since I started having symptoms after five years on the first birth control I was on. So it might be happening again but faster since I switched in 2017. I shouldn't be having worse symptoms over time but for once I'm not going to google anything

This morning I ran to the farmers market for stuff. I fucked up making yogurt last night, forgot about the milk on the stove, remembered when it was boiling, had fun scrubbing the pot this morning. Got more milk at the market and made yogurt while I was watching it. Plums are done for the season other than what I have in the fridge :( Wish I'd picked up more last time because the red skin orange flesh kind store decently in the fridge.

Also made hot sauce. I have so many peppers since I did a final harvest Thurs and took the plants down. Yes, I could have gotten more time out of them but I don't need any more peppers. I have another two gallons to donate to the food bank on monday. I think total of 7 gallons extra peppers from those plants this season, mostly jalapenos. Ridiculous. I used the Aji Colorado peppers and followed this recipe. I didn't put the sugar, just honey and it does need the sugar too since the acid is really hard when I first taste. I like the taste after the acid, kinda hot, kinda floral or fruity.

Then I went over to A Farm to have spin and hang out time with [personal profile] dragonlady7 and we spun yarn. We were able to hang in one of the open door barns and spin under cover since the weather was ??? (still masked tho). She's still learning and was having a hard time with her wheel so we swapped for a bit. She took my wheel to practice her spinning and I took her wheel to fiddle with it and see what happens. As it turns out, her wheel is missing pegs to keep it together better and thus the drive band kept throwing or the flyer would pop out or it wouldn't take up the yarn. But I did get it to take up and spun some very fine yarn on it. It might be able to do thicker once it stays together and level. It's a cool wheel though!

I ordered arepas and many sides yesterday for dinner and ate it again tonight. I usually order enough for two or three dinners because it all tastes amazing and frankly whoever decided to put corn and cheese together was a genius. However, I'm not a fan of the microwave picking one item on the plate and only heating that one. It's been going on for a while and it is annoying.

I think tomorrow will be a more relaxing day around the apartment. I will probably do laundry and probably try and process a bunch more peppers from the fridge. I will be drying some for paprika. I have a bunch of jalapenos still that I think I'm going to cook down and make into a pepper paste of some sort for funsies. Serranos need to be frozen. But other than that, probably not much. Probably.

I've been trying to learn to make arepas. Definitely much easier than tortillas!

If your microwave doesn't have a turntable, that's probably an indication that the scanning function of the internal emitter is either off or has failed.

Yay! still masked.

Yay! getting a cranky wheel to work, too.

Heh it was lovely to do some spinning!! I tried to continue and had real trouble getting what you'd spun to hold up enough to pull in the new stuff, I was clearly spinning much heavier despite my best efforts-- but it was actually really good to work on because my sister sometimes stresses me out when she gets talking and having something to half-pay-attention to was super good for me, LOL. I wound up just hand-turning the wheel and not bothering to treadle, but that meant I could really focus on pre-drafting and getting it as thin as possible, and I did have success then at getting it to take up, doing it all half-distracted and halfassed while discussing The State Of The World over lots of drinks. Hopefully that carries over into the improvement lasting while I'm actually seriously working at the wheel...
