Woke up early today on purpose. I had stuff to do, so I went to the grocery store and the hardware store and did dishes, all before 8am, when I headed over to the A Farm to help out and pick up my plants.

We set up irrigation, transplanted squash, retrieved poles from the barn and transplanted some things into the picking garden. Then we ate lunch and it was great.

There wasn't a ton to do for an extra person after lunch (A had flowers to transplant but she had to drop the kiddo off at a friends house first and I felt like I should get on the road ) so I chopped the plywood to a length that would actually fit in the bed of my truck to give me two layers for having transplants, loaded my plants (with some bonus parsley! because they had waaay too much) and headed back to the apartment.

Mara was all worked up because the construction guys had come inside to work on the door so she had hid in my room with Jade for a while. As it turns out, many things were stressing her out and when I got back, I walked her and she suddenly had diarrhea, which could have been from construction yesterday or the thunderstorm overnight or both.

I then loaded everything up, with some absurd tetris to get things in there without squishing plants but I did it.

Now I'm in PA and I've got Shit To Do this weekend:
  • rototill summer plots (2 hrs)
  • cultivate (1 hr)
  • set up fencing for Mara (1 hr)
  • bring Mara down to field
  • PLANT PLANT PLANT (until monday afternoon when I leave)

Oh your poor stressed pup.

Lunches at the farm do tend to be pretty good. During the season it's usually Frida Fridays but I don't think Frida's back from Sweden for the season yet. Not To Be Missed, I tell you what. (She's an artist and cooks without recipes. It's amazing. She made squash fries once. Yes really. Amazing.)

I'm glad the squash got planted out, they were working up to that when I last left (!). And yeah when I was labeling things for the plant sale I was like "this is more parsley?" and they were like "oh huh yeah it is, uhhhh... I guess... we'll see... if anyone wants to buy it??" and it sounds like the answer is no. They also had way too much Sweet Annie but that is useful only as an aromatic, it looks like a terrible weed and becomes a terrible weed once it takes over so you probably don't want it. (It gets to be like six feet tall. but it smells amaaaaaaaazingggggg. Just... it's not food, it smells like perfume. So, limited utility.)

I gotta tetris my car tomorrow morning to get all my yurt shit into it. hnnnggggg I meant to get that better-organized over the winter and guess what I Did Not Do.
