We decorated the tree Christmas Eve as is tradition in my family after I got home and took a brief nap. It's not complicated, I put on the Christmas music (Mannheim Steamroller's Christmas in the Aire), me and Mom put up the lights, we have to restabilize the tree because we have the world's shittiest tree stand. Then we put some ornaments on the tree.
It was nice! Then we sat around and chatted for a couple hours afterwards which was lovely.
Christmas morning, I was first up as usual, got the fires started including the outdoor burner because my dad drank some the night before and I figured he wouldn't be up early. I really enjoyed the fire starting, really nice. Then I spun. When I go to my parents', I set up on the couch, which is their new nice one that has a foot rest. I put my electric wheel on the footrest, my feet next to it under a blanket and sit and spin yarn until everyone else wakes up. I got a lot spun over the break, around 12 ounces which tends to be my most intense spinning period of the year.
Everyone else eventually got up and we opened presents. In years past, my parents used to hide our presents, which as a child, was so much fun, but it was a lot of work for them. Now we all sit around and open them.
I got a new stand mixer! I asked for money towards it but mom decided she was just going to get it. It's a 5.5 quart bowl lift kitchen aid, to replace my breville, which is starting to have issues. I'm going to bake with it tomorrow. My SIL got me a ton of fiber, way more than I was expecting, all in great colors from Llady Llama Fiber Co, who has the best colors. There was some other assorted things which are great and I asked for.
Then my sister and I helped my mom get the food around to take up to the party. Potatoes mostly. Yay potatoes!
The party was fun as always with really good simple food. My aunt did a crockpot of hot chocolate with fixings as a little DIY hot chocolate table. There was marshmallows, peppermint sticks, Bailey's, a butterscotch alcohol, peppermint schnapps and whipped cream. Fantastic idea, so good, I want this at every party I go to in the future. I went home around 10pm with my sister.
Next day was video games, walks and hanging out. We played Oh Hell that night, the five of us, until 2am, which was terrible but it was so fun too. A couple more days of hang outs and spinning and I got home yesterday midday.
