Mara and I both slept through the night the last two nights and I'm feeling very rested.

I think the pain pill at night, plus me getting her up and off her smaller bed to sleep on the larger bed has helped a lot. The smaller bed, while squishier, has sides that are firm and so she has to curl up just a bit on it, which I think makes her stiffer in the morning. She no longer gets up in the middle of the night to move around, so getting her to sleep on the bigger bed, where she can stretch out fully on her side with her legs out, means she seems to be less stiff in the mornings.

She's been better. I think I am going to take her to my parents' this weekend for one last farm visit. She's been better on the pain pills but seems less interested in going for walks around the house. She's still eating and drinking with enthusiasm but I think she's on the decline. Hopefully we can avoid more issues with the pain pills. I don't think it's kind to take her down to my parents' place after this one last one because it's a difficult trip if she can't stretch out. Four hours ride with two hour break used to work, but not any more. Garlic harvest will be this weekend and after that, nothing is time sensitive down there and while my parents need my help on the farm, they don't need it that badly.

And thank you to everyone for your thoughts and sympathies, they're very helpful even if I don't respond

We're having flooding in our area today, not so much where I am, but there's already been road washouts north of us and the water hasn't even mostly headed down the river yet, so they're expecting flooding down there. I'm working from home today because of it, no field work since everything is waterlogged. I'm going to take my personal truck to work tomorrow instead of the fleet vehicle because my truck has 4 wheel drive and I bet I'll need it.

Yesterday, I got up and ran to home depot for electrical supplies. I got most of it, other than the 12-3 UF wire I needed, since they only had a 250 ft roll, which was $300 and more than I needed by a lot. Normally I'd buy the extra, but it was a lot of money. So I ordered the 100ft roll online and it should be here tomorrow. I still need to get concrete for my fencing project but rain predicted all week, so probably not ideal concrete weather for fetching or mixing. I also bought clear bins for the basement in the hopes that I can do some kind of organization of tools and house supplies. It's a mess and there's not a good way to hang shelves on the walls. The basement generally needs a re-organization, so I'll probably go work on it for a bit this afternoon if I finish my work stuff up in time.

Afterwards, I mowed the lawn, or most of it before the pushmower died for mysterious reasons. It does that sometimes. I really need to poke at it. It should start up again another day, but the steepest part of the yard near the driveway is not mowed. I do it last because it's the hardest and I never want to mow more after I do that part. But it's grass over rock, so it isn't very tall.

Then I went to family dinner at the A farm and it was a lovely time. I made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Onward to the week.

Basements! I've built a lot of 2x4 plus plywood shelving in the past to avoid hanging shelving on walls. My current shop has shelves high enough to put 5 gallon buckets under the shelf. Then shelves tall enough for bins and/or extra tall gallon containers. Part of the shelving is built to take standard size restaurant bus bins. I find them particularly useful to put recycled plastic containers full of staples, screws, fencing parts and so on. I have a chainsaw bin and a weed whacker bin.
Garlic! I've harvested mine for the year and am very happy with it. Even the late planted stuff did well.
Give Mara a pat for me. Good thinking on the bigger bed.
