why do I keep fighting with the wifi right after I get home from work and am tired and cranky

anyway, we now have two wifi networks, one that is sitting right next to my bed so we can have fast wifi in our rooms and I'm going to order another wifi router because this one that I got from my dad's recommendation doesn't work the way I need it to, it is just the extender as it is but I need a new intital router because the one from the ISP can't be configured because they hate people. And also perhaps I didn't explain well but he also didn't give me a recommendation for what I really needed.

So I'm ordering a cheap tplink wifi because I know I can configure those and I'm going to not throw a fit about this. why is this so difficult jeez

And I'm going to run a second wire into my room because again, the fancy one he told me to get doesn't work the way I need it to which was to have an extra port so I can hardwire in when I do things like stream. maybe I'll ask if he wants to purchase this stupid thing from me and I can get two cheap wifi routers and mash them together like I planned to do before I asked for his recommendation.

arg, I'm going to sleep because I'm tired and cranky about this stupid internet.

Internet is indeed annoying!

As an hopefully potentially helpful point of information, I use a Mikrotik router because this is the "we want teenagers to learn our RouterOS product" offering of a commercial/industrial router maker. Mikrotik routers are configurable beyond the limits of my comprehension and then some. (I have found the quickstart part of the menu reliable; on my second iteration. First one still works fine, but my phone was getting grumpy about the ancientry of the wireless standard.)

They have a bunch of SOHO stuff including a couple with high-gain external antennas for better wireless coverage. (Mine has wireless coverage at the bus stop.) They can be a bit of a pain to buy -- you have to find someone who sells them in your area -- but they've got ports and they're robust.

Works is good!

(Works now is generally better than optimal later, too.)
