what the hecky is going on
Mar. 27th, 2022 12:55 pmWe submitted the offer to the farm house mid day friday and set an expiration date of sunday at 5pm. pretty normal stuff.
well 5pm yesterday rolls around and we've heard nothing. text our realtor and she called the selling realtor and he hasn't even talked to the seller. suddenly he can't get ahold of the seller, she doesn't even have a smartphone and won't pick up. He was going to call her this morning at 9am, it's now after 1pm and we haven't heard anything.
we're mentally moving on, gonna try and see some houses hopefully this week. Ugh.

Date: 2022-03-27 07:29 pm (UTC)F and I are not liking this to be honest. This is a lot of extra shenanigans when our offer is right there and our realtor thinks the attorney will tell the seller no. We're sleeping on it and waiting to see if the seller really talks to an attorney tomorrow. Our offer letter did expire so we aren't actually beholden to it anymore. We are getting a little nervous about this because if the seller is causing issues at the very first step of the process, then there might be issues for the next two (or more) months.
And I don't know if the seller thinks because the market is hot that she can do this sort of thing but we are the only offer right now and there aren't any showings lined back up yet. I also think people aren't settling for any house in our area. We saw a really cool old house that the sellers had done a beautiful job restoring but it was too close to the road for us and they already dropped the price on it because people aren't putting offers on it for various reasons.

"Not liking seems appropriate; sounds like at best the seller let their "already sold" narrative get away from them.
