Dec. 11th, 2021 10:22 amPlan Spreading The Word is going well. I talked to B's BIL at the farmer's market and he said he knew of two different sets of folks who had places with second apartments that they weren't renting because they didn't want strangers living there. He said he'd pass the word on.
I'm going to text a different friend this week sometime to see if she has anyone she knows.
I've mostly been working on clearing out the seed projects and getting them entered into the seed database. I've got a whole other bin of stuff I need to clear but since it's in a bin already, I'm calling it packed for now. I'm going to watch someone streaming and process sorghum seed right after this.
Packing will primarily commence in January beyond what I already have done. I need to pick up tape and utility knives. And oregano but that's unrelated.

Crossing appendages for spreading the word!
Current COVID numbers in Ontario -- meaning December 4th just got published -- had Omicron with a 3+ Rt and a 3 day doubling time. Might-maybe be a thing to make up a big list of moving supplies and have the whole lot delivered soon? January isn't sounding especially likely to be in a regular condition of supply.

Date: 2021-12-11 05:01 pm (UTC)I actually picked up 20 or so boxes ages ago, plus I'm a box hoarder so we've got a really good supply of those plus packing material. I've also kept every box my kitchen supplies have come in. The dog food orders come in these really nice huge oversized boxes too. It's just the tape is a regularly used thing and I think we're down to almost the end of the last one. I'm gonna pick up three on my next trip out and about. The other thing is that there's a liquor store and a restaurant within 5 mins that I can go get boxes from their recycling if things get real weird. There's also a uhaul place that sells boxes nearby if things get really dire.
I think we're set on cleaning supplies too, Jade has been buying clorox wipes because I stick them under the sink with the rest of the cleaning things, she doesn't see them, then buys more and things repeat. So I think we've got 5 or 6 of those.
Jade said she's really going to cull her belongings hard since she wants to make the jump abroad at some point after moving to the city.
I'm actually waffling on whether to wait until January to secure the storage unit and I might go get one next week instead. If a bunch of people plan to move in January.... then I might be in trouble if I wait until then. The other issue will be balancing when things go into storage vs when we need them. Like kitchen stuff.

Date: 2021-12-11 06:38 pm (UTC)I think the reason to get storage now is that you probably have to interact with a human. By January, that might be hard. Whereas if you've already got the unit and the keys, you're probably going to be able to use it irrespective of degree of lockdown.
Some amount of "and you can make a bunch of trips" also matters, but I'd be most worried about being able to do it at all in January.
