Well, not entirely all planning.
I spent most of the weekend tweaking the reservation system, and ordering things with my mom. We got a ton of the supplies for the fall ordered in an afternoon, after about five hours of working on things, I had to run away and play with a router (the woodworking tool). I took a thousand notes of things that she keeps in her head and not written down. Things like, don't take deposits out of the square account until after an outing is done because if there's bad weather, we refund deposits so we need them. noted. sometimes the things I learn are somewhat appalling. like there is no control over the cash in and cash out. she just doesn't check that, she just pulls the big bills and resets it and doesn't count what she puts in most of the time. eeeeeeeek. there will now be cashing in and out of the drawers and change box, every day.
But we got the general supplies, the tshirts, the signs, the amazon order of decorating stuff and went over what jams and jellies mom will call into the amish place tomorrow morning. I will be going to the PA Ren Faire next Saturday which is vaguely near the jam seller, so if they are open that day, I'll swing by and pick them up. There's a list of things to buy from sams club that they don't ship because of weight or size, so either me or dad will be running next week probably to get those things. Mostly drinks to resell.
I took some benches out of a wagon we're painting because it's older wood and looks bleh, so it's getting a white primer coat and if we have time/workers have time, orange on some of the boards. Then we need to rebuild parts of it and put the benches back in. That was fun. Lots of using a
Dad and I did more planning, figuring out who is doing what jobs on what days for most of the fall weekends and dad is now contacting everyone on the list to see if they want to work again and if they're available on certain days. We also did verbage for the fall changes and some other things.
I just posted the notice of farm changes to the facebook page and email list, it's been updated on the website. I'm doing all of the reservation stuff which is going smoothly. Dad is contacting the big daycare that has booked eight outings one day which will be a wild weekend.
Next weekend, I'm picking up my sister, heading to the farm. My first task will be deep cleaning the back room of the selling area, mainly because it needs to be done, I'm good at it and my mom hates that kind of task. And it has to be done so we can start storing all the things we ordered. Then I'm going to make signs for our picnic sites which will be nice and fun, simple wooden signs but I get to use the router :D I may or may not go back the weekend after, it was originally a break weekend but given the quantities of things to do, I might go in.
It's chaos all the way down but we'll get there. It doesn't feel like urgent chaos yet but we're still three weeks out from opening which isn't a ton of time.
