I did it! Moved in! F isn't moved in yet but I'm sure she will soon enough.
I spent yesterday here at the house, I loaded up my truck as full as it could be with the cover on and drove down. Spent the morning unloading that stuff and doing some very basic organizing in my room. Basically all my belongings were in there, so I picked through things and moved all the kitchen stuff to the kitchen. Stacked things up and put some things into one of the closets. Got the tv onto the coffee table, put the AC unit in the window. Set my bed up and got my dresser into place. There are still too many things in here, like the giant squashy chair and at least three shelves but I've got a little organization going and the rest can wait a bit.
During lunch I sat on the big porch and watched the birds at the feeders. Saw a woodpecker of some sort, a hummingbird and some little birds. Downloaded the cornell Merlin app and got some listening bird identifications which was cool.
After lunch, it was crowbar time. I got the support boards out from the gap where they were allowing mouse highway to happen. Only a few of the support boards were attached with the 3 inch spiral nails so it went faster than I thought. Pulled the carpeting up that was under them, carpet tacks up, removed nails. I did end up pulling up one panel of particle board which was good progress.
Told my parents I would stay an extra day to help them on the farm next weekend if they got their extra shopvac working (just needs a new starter switch) because my poor vacuum was suffering under the work I was putting it through. Particle board, so much mouse shit, wood, leaves. Poor vacuum. I cleaned everything up and got it down to the piles until F can get the transfer station stickers and we can start taking stuff to the dump. Laid down the drop cloths and a tarp to cover as much of the particle board as possible because it is full of staples.
Managed to unpack two kitchen boxes before I had to scoot. I ordered mexican food for pickup, several days worth so I wouldn't need to make food for a bit.
This morning I got up and packed everything up, took it all out to the truck. I fit everything in my truck except for one empty bin. womp womp. that's okay, I'll be back out for work reasons and can pick it up. I also need to sweep again and mop the whole floor because Mara was drooling everywhere.
We drove down, no problems. I left her in the truck while I unloaded then we looped the house for a little walk. Brought her inside and she was concerned. She did drink water and has been eating some of the snacks I've given her. Mara likes to look out the screen door onto the big porch and listen to the birds. I've managed to unpack another two kitchen boxes and a suitcase of clothes but I'm pretty tired and I'm trying to keep her from freaking out too much. There was someone shooting earlier so that freaked her out a lot.
Just turned the AC unit on a few minutes ago but should turn it off once the sun gets down behind the trees.
