Actually this whole past week has been busy. I've been getting work stuff done and managed to squeeze a vet appointment in for Mara by bringing her with me to work one day. Over last weekend, she had leg spasms in the middle of the night, once I was able to get her on her feet, they cleared up. Vet advised keeping an eye on her but they didn't see anything physically wrong.

Friday, I had bloodwork draw first thing, so I left super early because after that, I picked up a uhaul and [personal profile] dragonlady7 helped me get all my stuff out of storage. It only took an hour and a half to load everything up and not super long to unload with only one minor giant-chair-getting-stuck-in-the-doorway incident. We did have to take the door off its hinges because my room is behind the front door. Getting it back on it's hinges was the most difficult part of the whole process.

Sat, I went to the house after making a quick stop into the hardware store to stare at plywood and contemplate my life choices. I might not be able to lift 3/4" 4'x8' sheets of plywood, those are heavy. Stopped by a yard sale on the way and snagged a working generator for $300, which even if it might not be the right size for the house hookup, it's better than no generator. spent some time trying to get the back plate of one part of the heating unit out and eventually succeeded but discovered that they had used 3" nails to attach the back plate to the chunk of wood that was supporting it against the wall. Did have an existential crisis but got over it pretty quick. Started thinking more about how to fix it.

Today, went to the guy who sells lawnmowers on his lawn and picked up a push mower and a snowblower. Mowed the lawn! It looks much better now because the seller hadn't mowed at all this season before closing. F came over and we discussed the flooring problem.

Oh it looks like I never discussed the living room flooring problem. So when we pulled up the carpet and padding, the first layer of subfloor is nasty particle board. Ah, should be easy to remove I thought. Well. The issue is that the subfloor runs under the 2x6s that are holding up the baseboard heating units, which are raised up off the floor because the electrical outlets are mounted on the floor because it's a log home and they didn't want to run electrical wire up the wall and have it visible. The back plate is attached with 3" nails and there isn't enough slack in the baseboard heating unit to get the nails out when they are directly behind it. The back board is also extremely snuggly placed into notches of the logs of the wall.

All very silly and slightly messy made a bigger problem by the slight leak in one corner of the baseboard pipe that would need to be fixed anyway. So I talked things over with my dad and he said baseboard heating stuff is pretty easy to do and reinstalling it is now easy thanks to pex plastic stuff instead of copper.

So the game plan is to drain that loop of the heating, cut the attachment points, set the heating units aside for the summer. Pull the back plate, the back board and then the particle board. Depending on how wild I want to get, I may do sleeper inserts to replace the particle board (the carpet was mostly level with the kitchen, but removing that puts the top of the particle board at 1 1/4 in below the level of the kitchen floor and when we remove the 3/4 in particle board, we will be down 2 inches. planning to get 3/4 in plywood and if get wild and I lay 1 in sleeper boards, then with the vinyl planking being just about 1/4 inch, we'll be very close in height), then lay plywood over, then when the plank gets in on the 14th, install that. Also need to rebuild the two interior stairs still, I was too tired to find more problems today and try and fix them. they have better plywood under them so it should be fine but they are also over Evil Narnia video here, pretty sure that link should work for a bit.

We'll probably move in before that just because we're both sick of driving down on the weekends to try and get stuff done. I've been driving an hour fifteen each way and I'm already tired of it. We're just going to put down drop cloth to cover the particle board for now. We're both taking probably Tuesday off work to see if we can do some of it and possibly get another opinion from F's BIL. Once we move in, at least we can take care of some of the smaller projects without it being an ordeal. Most of my stuff is in and I've been taking stuff from the apartment down everytime I go. F is hiring movers thank fuck.

Dang I'm tired. F has been doing a lot of the work on cleaning the kitchen which has been awesome. We also need to pull the washer/dryer out and see if there's moisture issues behind them because that bathroom is just funky smelling. And get groceries. And I have a doctors appt tomorrow (followup), and work. And going to my parents either this weekend or next.

Ah well, adulting is just doing a lot of stuff all the time I guess.
