I'm taking the contents of my little square chest freezer down to my parents to live in the big chest freezer there.

I think it's been two years or so since I cleaned it out. The top 2/3 I mostly put into my bin to take down because it was stuff I was rotating through regularly and the last 1/3 was stuff from 2018 that I really should have gotten rid of sooner. My eating habits have changed since then, so a lot of it was things that I wouldn't use much. Into the trash with it.

I did toss a giant bag of cherries because there was a hole in the bag and I guess the sugar content was so high that the juice was semi liquid and it drained onto some other things. I did consider keeping it.

Kept some other fruit to probably make some stuff with. I had a lot of stock that I made recently.

All of the keepers went into a plastic bin and then I just loaded it into the back of the truck because it will be 18F tonight and is already below freezing. Thank you weather, I really appreciate the assist!

All I've got left in the fridge freezer is bread, a lasagna, a bag of tomato paste, a third of a cake and one container of stock because I figured that would be plenty of helpful food for January. And some ice packs.

I did leave the chest freezer running because I'm leaving tomorrow and I don't have enough time to deal with the defrosting mess that it will create.

Between that, a bunch of baking supplies and the things I've been packing and cleaning in my room, when I get back, I will have another load to go to the storage unit. I've got one big problem area to tackle and that's the shelf next to my desk. It is difficult to access because it sits between the closed closet door and my desk and that space is only wide enough to fit my desk chair, which is shoved up against the shelf. I can use the shelf when I'm sitting in the chair but that's about it. It is filled with shit. Useful shit but still a lot of random shit too.

Most of the urgent seed projects have been cleared and I think I will simply box up the dry ones and pack them away. I processed one squash today, a cucurbita argyosperma which I'm 99% sure has viable seed. Given that it is from New Mexico (shoutout to Native Seed/SEARCH) and I grew it in Zone 4B in the northeast, I am once again cursing climate change. It really shouldn't have been possible. I've still got two storage squashes that I need the seeds from, so I think I will do a bunch of baking in the first week of january after roasting them, pies and bread, things like that. I can either eat it or freeze it for the next few weeks and then call seed processing done so I can put the seed screens and stuff into storage.

I made the gingersnap cookies for christmas gifts this morning and then loaded up the potting soil, pots and seed trays to head to my parents. And then I just got the outdoor closet all cleaned out permanantly because why not! I found five plastic bins that had been stored in there and put together a pile of things to go to the dumpster when it gets emptied next. I am 2/3 packed for the holiday trip, mostly left with the stuff that I'm currently using and will pack and hit the road as early as possible tomorrow.

Maybe I will actually get around to relaxing. Haha
