Please let there be rain
Sep. 28th, 2020 06:24 pmtomorrow and wednesday, rain incoming just in time for a break
I'm fucking tired.
Friday I helped harvest half of the sweet potato trial. Then I drove to my parents place, worked that night helping set up at like 9pm. Then the next day was their first day open for the fall season, way more people came out than normal and it rained. I harvested so many squash. We got everything around but it was really close to opening and also just chaos. Thankfully no one wanted to do the corn maze in the dark and rain, so everyone was gone by 7:30 that night. I passed the fuck out at 8 and slept until 7ish the next morning.
Harvested more pumpkins, worked straight through until time to go. I packed up around 3ish and drove back home. Passed out at 8 again.
Then we harvested the rest of the sweet potatoes this morning. My forearms are sore and I plan to do stretching and nothing else for several days
Good news is that the edible squashes seem to be catching on with the signs I made. My parents are trying to move towards growing more stuff and doing less agritourism which benefitted them this year. I made a bunch of signs about each type of squash and how to cook it and made a nice display. Also included are the storage watermelons I suggested they grow. If you're interested these are the melons and they are pretty good! Neat stuff.
Badish news is that my roommate is now working during day time hours at target. Badderish news is that her schedule is 3am to 12pm so I have to find a way to keep the dog quiet from like 1pm until ??? which is the time she has the most fun barking at things. It's when all the delivery trucks come through and everyone with a dog who has a jingly collar is out walking. The big problem is that the apartment is tiny and Jade's bedroom is directly off the living room and the balcony is off the living room.
So I guess we're going to live in my room until Jade switches back to overnights in November. I dunno. I'm tired. I'm going to see if spinning makes my forearms more sore.
