I went to a Whale game yesterday and then drove to PA this morning, so you know, a lot of driving in two days but it's fine. Totally worth it because it was such a close game. The Whale still lost but they made it really hard for the Whitecaps. I usually have the twitch stream up on my phone so I can update the chat there and because I like the chat. At one point, they were struggling with the arena wifi, the stream went out and the chat said I should do the play by play. there was some internal screaming on my end lmao but thankfully they got the stream back up before anything happened.

It was a super fun game to watch and the Whale were SO CLOSE

I also finally got one of my signs autographed. I take signs to the games and tape them to the glass and I had enough time to wait around for a few minutes. The teams all have autograph lines after the game and the Whale's was pretty short, so they autographed my sign and chatted with me. I was queer and embarrassing because they are all women who could probably take me out in an instant and all incredibly cute and I don't know if I made actual eye contact with any of them. So you know, awkward queer here.

They apparently like my signs :)

It was awesome.

I also grabbed two tickets to the NWHL All-Star weekend which is being held in Boston Feb 8-9. They just went on sale today and I know the arena isn't super huge so they will probably sell out quickly. I just sent the dog sitter a message since this will be an overnight thing. Now I just need to get a hotel.

In other news, the PWHPA has announced two stops in January and February in Toronto and Philly. I wish I could get to the Philly games arg. The other thing that has come up in the past few months is that, the original PWHPA plan was actually to cause the NWHL to fold so the NHL would step in and create a league and.....that's a horrible plan. Like. All around. Like, I get you don't want to play in the NWHL, but the NHL doesn't give a single shit and they never have. I don't know why they would help now. They aren't going to throw a bunch of money at the players and say, here you go. The PWHPA also were apparently pressuring younger players not to play in the NWHL which. hmmmm, don't like that much.

The main problem with this is that it isn't actually a boycott/strike if you aren't negotiating with the party you are boycotting. Which they aren't at all. This is more like a bunch of employees left their jobs, which they have every right to! I understand why they would leave! But they seem to be acting like this is just like the Team USA boycott in 2017, including using the same kind of language when that was such a different situation. Of course the NWHL is going to keep going and hire new employees (on that note, players in the NWHL are considered employees and have health insurance. Next step as fans is to support the league and get them to raise salaries) if their employees left. That's how a business works.

Anyway. I can find sources on that stuff if you're interested. More hockey next weekend! I don't know if the Whale will beat Boston, but they can give it a go.
