PWHPA Announces Dream Gap Tour; NWHL Partners With Twitch; Sweden's National Team is on strike

The PWHPA has annouced their Dream Gap Tour, with details at this link here.  They are having weekend game showcases between teams. Announced locations are Toronto, Hudson, NH, and Chicago. They are also having an exhibition game against Boston College and one against San Jose Sharks Alumni. I think in one of the news articles, they mentioned more happening later, with Buffalo as a potential location. All the games currently on the schedule are played in the next two months.

The Toronto leg of the tour just released tickets and information here, playing the weekend of Sept 21-22. They are playing four games between four teams over the weekend and they have some big sponsors including Budweiser Canada, who are sponsoring the streaming, which will be on their website. One cool thing is that you can buy virtual tickets and that money will go to kids who might not be able to go to a game.

NWHL announced this morning that they are partnering with Twitch to stream all of their games for three years, including this season. It will include the Isobel Cup Final and any other special games like the All-Star Game. It doesn't look like pre-season games are included since they specified all regular season games will be streamed. While you get perks and things if you make a Twitch account, you don't need an account to watch games. 

This is slightly older (lol 2 weeks old) news, the Swedish national team is on strike until they are compensated fairly. The have had a lot of issues with their federation in the past few years and it all has come to a head. They have already missed the Euro Hockey Tour, and Sweden is hosting the 4 Nations Cup in November, so there is international embarrassment on the line for the federation if they can't have a team play. The players are unionized, which should greatly help their cause. 

I'm also going to re-post the link to the calendar I made again, for when games are being played. The PWHPA, NWHL, IIHF and SDHL are currently listed on there. It is pretty USA/Canada centric but if you think I should add any other leagues, let me know (with a focus on leagues that stream games, I may still add the AWIHL, Finland's league and Russia's league). I'm working on ways to have a single shareable calendar that you can hide the leagues you don't want to see schedules for, but that will probably be for next season or later this year (I did find a good candidate! still in progress.). I'm also only able to do some tasks on a computer, and currently the internet is out at my house so I'm doing my best to update it when I get computer access and as news comes up.
