I thought my dog had a bathroom emergency and was pacing around so I took her out.

Nope, she could hear critters in the leaves outside and wanted to go munch them. She's got a bone now in the hope that she stays distracted and I can go back to sleep because its 1 in the morning.

She's not consistent with doing this so it's probably better.....

The issue was more that I had just given her a new type of wet food on her dinner and she gets an upset stomach pretty easily. So I was on alert for stomach distress which she has had overnight occasionally. She's very good about letting me know that she has to go to the bathroom really bad.

So the behavior was very similar and I was very tired. But when we got outside she immediately tried to take off for the bushes and when I held her back, just paced back and forth On Alert so I made her come back inside. She settled after the bone.
