 in a truly exciting turn of events, my truck decided to lose its shit this morning. 

It was fine until I was idling at the train crossing in town and it just randomly decided to rev really high and not accelerate much. I managed to get it home but my garage doesn't have an opening until tomorrow so I just need to figure out when to get it up there. 

So I'm working from home today and possibly tomorrow! Not what my plan was!

Oh no! Throttle springs?
Sucks! Hope it's an easy fix.
Shit my car is due for an inspection by the end of this month and I KEEP FORGETTING. Argh.

The internet informs me it's probably something with the transmission which I'm hoping will just be transmission fluid, but I'd rather have the mechanics look at it. I'm really hoping it will be fine with the 20 minute drive up the hill to the mechanic.....

Transmission problems that leave the whole thing in the transmission case are at least less inherently exciting than the other kind. I hope there's no further sources of excitement whatsoever!

I'm guessing low transmission fluid since I was on a slope when it happened. You'd think there would be a warning on that but oh well. I'm taking it to the garage soon so they can handle it in case it isn't just low transmission fluid. I had a full over look done about a year and a half ago but I've driven a lot since then and I was just waiting until I hit my next oil change (I think 1500 miles left) to have another done. I guess it's good to just get it done now. ugh.

One would think, yeah. I'm surprised you didn't get an engine light.

You should generally be able to get between oil changes without other major maintenance; oil changes are supposed to be the most frequent, except possibly air filters if you live somewhere dusty.
