September Crafting Update and October Goals
September goals

A beautiful beautiful Romney fleece I bought, I ended up meeting the sheep, who was there and an absolute sweetheart. I bought it right as I came in, so I carried the fleece around the whole time. Since it was from Stewart the sheep, B and I started calling the fleece Stewart, so every time I needed to squeeze into a stall or pay for something, I would ask B to hold Stewart and it was a great delight. This will be flicked, combed and spun, enough for some kind of big garment even if I'll probably have 50% loss between the wash, flick, comb.

This is seven and a half pounds of wool/mohair blend yarn that I pulled out of a sale bin. I picked up four of them and just decided to get all of them. It'll be for weaving and I'll make cloth to someday sew something.

Some misc purchases of luxury fibers. Not my usual but they were in a sale bin in a stall that I was buying some cheviot from (not pictured). I bought the cheviot because it would be good teaching spinning fiber, since that's a thing I do these days and picked these up. Plus two spindles, one as a gift for a friend and one to teach with (also not pictured). I plan to use the white fluff in the photo below as dye experimenting someday.

October goals
- Spin alpaca and ply, wash and label skeined yarns - spun one bobbin and most of a second, still lots to go, didn't do anything with the yarns
- knit sweater - frogged it since it was coming out to have about five inches too big. just finished reknitting the ribbing
- crochet mittens - worked on them! almost to the thumb holes on both
- get the damn heddles on the loom, then thread heddles, then sley dent and weave. By end of Sept I will be throwing the shuttle - DID IT, I am currently weaving and have woven about 12 inches so far. it's going very well!
- work on a fleece - started carding the icelandic fleece
- wash a fleece? - nope
- write a blog post? - I wrote some stuff but need to find photos

I have to say, sale bins are dangerous!

One of the things I've realized as I look at a lot of people's weaving is that I like symmetrical patterns, so I suspect I'll be doing this pattern a lot!
The sale bins were in my favor for sure, picking up things I wouldn't normally buy, so we'll see if I like spinning silk haha.
