One of my uncles passed away last week on my mom's side of the family. I saw him at my cousin's wedding for the first time in ten years or so and he got sick soon after that and spent some time in the hospital before passing away. We were not particularly close before that.

His funeral is tomorrow and I'm really debating on going or not. It's a 4 1/2 hour drive one way, I packed all of my nice clothes already and I think I would actually need to leave tonight given it's supposed to snow up here tomorrow morning.

On the other hand, it would be nice to support my mom and see everyone.

But also I'm so fricking tired.

That’s tough. I’m sorry you are stuck making that decision. Maybe ask your mom if she needs the support?

Funerals suck as family reunions.

Sympathy and condolences.

Long drives when you're already tired are a thing that adds to the count of funerals. I'd tend to suppose that if you're asking the question it'd be a good idea to listen to yourself. (But maybe tell your mom when you decide whatever you decide.)

That's a tricky one. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. Glad you are not going though. I just did a almost 6 hour drive to judge this weekend and it has flattened me -- and I started fresh.
Maybe light a candle in your Uncle's memory?
