I'm actually a-ok in the back department! My knees are sore mostly. The best way to prune is right down at the base of the plants, so you just crawl the whole time, but honestly the battery powered pruner was amazing. Any branch I could get the pruner blades around, it would cut. I got into a little trouble when I tried some larger branches but I made it work.

Not sure how much research you've done, so feel free to ignore me if you know this already. For home gardens, every other year is plenty of pruning as well once the plants hit 5-6 years old, you'll just take one or two more branches out (variety dependent) and it's always best to prune from the very bottom of the plant, cutting out big branches rather than doing pruning work in the canopy. Ideally you'd have 2-3 new pencil thick shoots each year that are at least 2-3 feet tall, or prune the short ones that are at the base of the plant, because they don't grow very tall if they go over a winter short. I've taught pruning, so this might be too much info, but if you ever had any questions, let me know!
