Oh jeez, it has to be at least 100 hours. I made a decision not to track my time because I knew it would be so much time and also I never really remember to hit start on my time tracker. But if I had to guess, combing I was doing approximately 3 times a week, 2 hours at a time during those two full months, so 50 hours or so in the processing. Probably similar in the spinning and plying. Weaving is relatively fast in comparison, so it was maybe 20 hours if it included warping, beaming on, threading heddles and all that, but probably only 7 or so hours in actual weaving. I'm really new at sewing, so all the hand stitching and fussing with things probably took way more time than an experienced sewist, but probably another 20 or 30 hours. So that's around 150 hours. Definitely a passion project!
I've got a sheep fleece I'm currently working on that will be a similar project, but not in the compressed timeline and while I don't know what garment I'll make out of it, the fleece is larger so I'll have more options and by the time I finish processing and spinning it, I'll have learned how to dye yarn and can dye it. It'll be slightly less time since I'll keep it as singles, but it's finer, so the weaving will take longer.... lots going on!
