It is currently still drizzling but blue skies are approaching.

This weekend was hot and sunny and wow did I sunburn. Normally it's not too bad, and it fades pretty quick. My forearms have already faded into a tan. But for some reason the inside of my elbows burned and wow are they hot and burned.

First thing Saturday, I got up and walked the dogs, then around 7 ran down to my field and took some pictures. I'll make a separate post about that. I then started doing farm work for dad, I got some fertilizer spread quickly in the morning, dad helped me hook up the plow and was waiting to see how I did. I started plowing and suddenly the plow was falling forward. Turns out that the tractor has this cool ability to unlatch the arms in case you aren't square to the implement you are hooking up. I had no idea and dad had forgotten to relatch it so as I started plowing, the arm hookup had just come out of the arm. Joy. So dad headed back to get the forks, we messed with it, got it back upright and relatched the arm properly.

Then I plowed. And plowed. For my third time ever plowing, it went pretty good but those dang rocks. It's all tiny arm adjustments to keep the plow ditch smooth so the next pass doesn't pop the tractor up and down and it's actually kinda hard. But I got that field done with a lunch break in the middle, came back to the house, walked the dogs and started plowing the second field there.

My uncle has been helping out on the farm and he spread the pre-plant fertilizers and disked the fields.

I finished plowing around 7 and the second field was much easier to plow since it didn't start with enormous ditches in it. (I thought about ice skating but it's fairly exhausting sitting on a tractor in the sun all day making tiny adjustments for some reason)

I then laid around in the yard with the dogs for the rest of the evening.

yesterday, again I got up early and went down to my field. I got my selling peas weeded and did a careful weeding on my carrots, which are just in the first true leaf stage. After that, it was field prep for strawberries and we were planting by noon or so. I planted until about 2:30, when my sib took over and then I packed, walked the dogs, ran down to the west farm for some lumber, cut it real quick and then got out the door.

I missed all the storms on the drive back up, which was great because they all looked terrible.
